Adam's Astronomy Addiction - Matian Glaciers

Scientific American reports that the NASA/JPL Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has found, and without any shred of doubt, multiple large deposits of frozen H20 buried under the wind-blown Martian soil. What does this mean for us? Manned visitation and later, full-blown colonization, is no longer just a future possibility, but is now very likely. With water, future human missions will not only have a source for supporting their own lives (drinking it, growing food instead of transporting it from Earth, etc.) but will be able to generate their own O2 for breathing and H2 for fueling the return trip(s). This is good news! Start the reactor....
